Puppet ministry.
That's how the youth at Christ Lutheran Church, Conyngham, share the love of God with others.
They call their puppet ministry God's Handiwork.
The youth take their ministry of music, comedy and drama to nursing homes, other churches, civic and community events, and other places to which they have been invited. In fact, they have so many requests to perform that they often have to turn people down.
"Puppet teams help the spiritual growth not only of the church and community but also of those involved!" says Lenora James, Christian education and youth director at the church. "They are also great for keeping young people involved in church, especially those post-confirmation teens who think they are 'done' now."
Is your congregation interested in starting a puppet team?
"It's much easier to start a team than one would think," Lenora states. If congregations are interested, she continues, "We would be willing to help them."
Lenora notes that it is also much more affordable when the team makes its own puppets. "This, too, is easier to do than one would think," she says.
