June 2013The June issue of Synod News tells more about the year-long mission district program, Wellness Winners: The Mission District Challenge. September 2012The September issue of Synod News highlights a number of upcoming events and opportunities in the synod. Plan to be part of the opportunity to discuss the draft of a social statement on criminal justice or one of the occasional classes for lay people. Check out events like Faith-a-Palooza, Learning Ministries Day 2013, Jesus Calls Us ...to Action, and other events on the horizon. August 2012The August issue of Synod News is the summary of the 25th annual assembly of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, held June 15-16 at the Sovereign Center in Reading. This issue also includes a brief summary of the LYF assembly, held June 22-24 at Muhlenberg College. July 2012The July issue of Synod News tells of an exciting new venture for young adults sponsored by two synods in the ELCA and the ELCIC (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada). Called the Plunge, the goal is to deepen their spirituality and global awareness. Also in this issue are two articles on this month's ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans and information about upcoming events. June 2012The June issue of Synod News tells of the special gifts from congregations in response to the synod’s financial crisis so that, as one congregation writes, “our important work of Christ may continue with vigor and spirit, and … our gift may help make a small difference to the witness and service of the Church.” This issue also highlights the synod and LYF assemblies and tells of a new technology group available to assist synod congregations. May 2012The Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod 25th annual assembly is highlighted in the May issue of Synod News. There's also information about the LYF assembly, grants available from the Witness and Service Ministry Team, and upcoming events. April 2012The Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod Bike for World Hunger is back! Read all about it in the April 2012 issue of Synod News. Also included in the issue is the April Family Faith Challenges, an article about the Spirituality Ministry Team, and information about upcoming events. March 2012The March 2012 issue of Synod News tells about an exciting new event, Celebrating Our Faith through the Arts. Also featured is a note about Bishop Zeiser's message regarding the financial situation, the March Family Faith Challenges, and information about upcoming events. February 2012The February 2012 issue of Synod News notes how members of the synod staff are using the Do What Matters Bible study to discover what it means to be the church today. Also featured is information about the ELCA Fund for Leaders, the February Family Faith Challenges, and notes about upcoming events. January 2012The January 2012 issue of Synod News highlights the continuing experiences of our congregations participating in the Do What Matters events. Also featured is a new resource from the Youth, Young Adult, and Family Ministry Team called Family Faith Challenge. Check out these plus upcoming events. December 2011The December issue of Synod News highlights the 2012 Learning Ministries Day and includes an invitation to the dedication of the new Lutheran Center, information about new materials in the synod Resource Center, and news about upcoming events. November 2011The November issue of Synod News includes an invitation to the dedication of the new Lutheran Center, information about the Faith Formation Resource Team, a story about one of our partners in ministry, and news about upcoming events. October 2011The October issue of Synod News provides additional information about the special synod assembly on October 22, an invitation to and more information on the November Do What Matters events, and news about other upcoming events. September 2011Let's Talk! invites congregations to attend one of the special Do What Matters! events on September 10. In addition, the September issue includes a reminder about the new location of the synod office, Information about a special synod assembly on October 22, and other upcoming events. July 2011On July 16-17, youth from across the synod will gather in 9 different locations (one in each mission district) for a World Hunger Lock-In. Read more about the lock-in, the Youth, Young Adult, and Family Ministry Team, and a teacher training event in the July issue of Synod News. June 2011I am confident that God is at work. Bishop Zeiser reflects on his observations in various aspects of his ministry as synod bishop.
