The August issue of Synod News is the summary of the 25th annual assembly of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, held June 15-16 at the Sovereign Center in Reading. This issue also includes a brief summary of the LYF assembly, held June 22-24 at Muhlenberg College.
The July issue of Synod News tells of an exciting new venture for young adults sponsored by two synods in the ELCA and the ELCIC (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada). Called the Plunge, the goal is to deepen their spirituality and global awareness. Also in this issue are two articles on this month's ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans and information about upcoming events.
The June issue of Synod News tells of the special gifts from congregations in response to the synod’s financial crisis so that, as one congregation writes, “our important work of Christ may continue with vigor and spirit, and … our gift may help make a small difference to the witness and service of the Church.” This issue also highlights the synod and LYF assemblies and tells of a new technology group available to assist synod congregations.

On July 16-17, youth from across the synod will gather in 9 different locations (one in each mission district) for a World Hunger Lock-In. Read more about the lock-in, the Youth, Young Adult, and Family Ministry Team, and a teacher training event in the July issue of Synod News.
